MDC has the expertise to help public & private sector organisations maximise the productivity of their buildings and ICT equipment, whilst ensuring that they become more sustainable for the environment.

MDC's commitment to sustainability is reflected in its unwavering approach to have it's own internal procedures be equivalent to the ISO14001 environmental standard. It is our aim to reduce environmental impact, and to comply with the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations for disposal of equipment.

Sustainability matters

No organisation wants to ignore the environment. MDC's advice and technology can form an integral part of an organisation’s strategy for reducing its environmental impact, improving its performance in environmental audits and satisfying the ethical requirements of today’s public and private sector.

MDC practices what it preaches

The green steps we have taken so far are to:

- Install sub metering to constantly monitor power consumption and  Co2 emissions from our offices including all ICT equipment

- Turn off all equipment that doesn't need to be turned on, either during the working day or night, either through manual or automatic means

- Use hosted SaaS products where ever possible

- Install low energy lighting and the maximise the use of sunlight to illuminate office spaces

- Hold virtual meetings where ever possible

- Use public transport as often as possible when either attending face to face meetings or carrying out surveys

- Purchase equipment and components from distributors that use the minimum of packaging materials by pre staging equipment builds at the distribution hub

- Recycle all packaging materials including the recycling of metals such as copper wire

- Use engineers that are based close to the project sites to reduce the need to travel long distances and therefore cut down on emissions

- Use a web hosting company that Since December 2007 has supplied all its European data centres with electrical power from renewable resources like wind, water, or solar energy. In 2008 its data centre in Lenexa, Kansas, also became fully green-certified. With all of its worldwide data centres powered by green energy, 1&1 is the first globally green Web host in the market.

1&1’s green-hosting efforts will offset emissions of over 30,000 tons of CO2 per year.

A fresh approach to sustainability

MDC firmly believes in a new approach to environmental sustainability.

It’s better to pursue a policy of reducing waste both material and energy at the outset than to try to compensate for it later with tree-planting or carbon offsetting policies.

MDC supplies products in accordance with this approach, we are constantly striving to help our customers become ‘greener’, through the use of AMR solutions that are helping our customers to become more environmentally responsible without investment in costly infrastructure and set up costs.
